Goal for Good Cup: A Heartfelt Celebration of Football and Neonatal Care
This World Prematurity Day, South United Football Club (SUFC) and Neonates Foundation of India (NFI) hosted the Goal for Good Cup, a special event that united young footballers, sports enthusiasts, and the community in support of neonatal care. The day featured U-7 and U-9 category players, who brought their passion and energy to the field to raise awareness and funds for critically ill newborns in need of urgent care.
Held on Saturday, 16th November 2024, at the South United Football Club in Ulsoor, Bengaluru, the event had a profound impact on all who attended. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and hope as the young players took to the field, each goal scored contributing to the larger mission of supporting neonatal care.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including:
- Mr. Terry Phelan: Sporting Director at South United, UEFA License holder, and former player for the Irish National Football Team, the 1994 USA World Cup, and the English Premier League.
- Mr. Adhip Bhandary: AFC Certified Coach & Youth Development Leader.
- Mr. Pragyan Medhi: Midfielder, NorthEast United FC.
- Ms. Neole Cornelio: Professional athlete, multiple-time Karnataka representative, national medalist, and gold medalist for India.
One of the event’s most touching moments came when participants tied purple ribbons on a butterfly installation, a powerful symbol of hope, resilience, and remembrance for premature newborns.
