The Lone Survivor Triplet: A Win of Hope & Fight!!

Neetu Sharma and Amarjit Singh married for 18 years were waiting for the arrival of their 3 babies in May 2024.

The will of the divine, 3 sons were born on 11.05.2024. The triplets were born prematurely at 24 + 1 weeks gestation—a period well before most doctors consider babies to be viable outside the womb with less than a kilogram of birth weight. Unfortunately, two babies were not able to fight the difficult journey and the first one gave up within 4 to 5 days of life and the other one by 15 days of life.

Despite the extreme prematurity, the parents, Neetu and Amarjit, who were filled with disappointment for their 2 sons , were still of anticipation and love for their third and lone survivor and remained hopeful.

However, the journey for this little one is no less than a battle from the beginning. It had severe respiratory distress since birth and immediately shifted to NICU. Shortly soon developed Clinical Sepsis, Neonatal Jaundice and complications due to his underdeveloped organs.

Neetu and her husband were devastated by the loss of the first two sons, yet they clung to hope and focused all their energy on the survival son . For last couple of months from May , they sat vigil by his incubator in the NICU, cherishing every small victory, such as the first time he opened his eyes.

Not only did this affect them emotionally, but financially as well. Spending lakhs of rupees for couple of years on trying for a kid , they were advised IVF which also cost them around 2.5 L . Even as they were thrilled about the fact that they were going to be parents , the birth of their precious ones and then what followed along with NICU care was not an easy task for Amarjit who is a Godown Supervisor and Neetu a home maker. It was then, the hospital approached with the case to Neonates Foundation of India.

NFI ( Neonates Foundation of India ) , as its motto is , pitched in at the right time and funded the baby’s NICU fees, medications, and any specialized procedures that the baby may require.

After spending more than three and half  months in the NICU, their son  defied all the odds. He was finally strong enough to go home, weighing just over 1.620 kg. His parents described his survival as a miracle and a testament to the resilience and strength of their tiny warrior. They are of all thanks to the support they have received from the hospital and NFI ( Neonates Foundation of India).

After months of struggle, Neetu Sharma and Amarjit Singh find comfort and joy in their son’s progress.  Despite the many hurdles he has faced, their son continues to thrive, bringing light and love to his family. His story of survival amid such challenging circumstances is a poignant reminder of the strength and tenacity that even the smallest among us can possess.

This story of a surviving triplet like Neetu and Amarjit’s son serves as an inspiration to many families going through similar experiences, highlighting the importance of hope, the strength of family, and the incredible possibilities of modern neonatal care.
