Baby of Asma Bhanu & Alijhan K

Asma and Alijhan had their baby on 15.05.2024. Due to respiratory Distress Syndrome, Congenital Pneumonia and S. Sepsis the baby had to be on ventilator support for almost a fortnight.

Alijhan being a shopkeeper in a fancy store and Asma a home maker could not afford the INR 80000 which was the hospital estimate. The cost of the emergency C-section, along with the ongoing NICU expenses, was far beyond their means.

The hospital’s social work department learned about Asma and Alijhan’s situation. Understanding the severity of their son’s condition and the couple’s financial constraints, the hospital immediately began seeking ways to help. They connected Asma and Alijhan with Neonates Foundation of India, which often helps financially struggling families with premature babies. The foundation covered a significant portion of the baby’s NICU expenses.

Thanks to the medical care he received in the NICU, the baby slowly began to improve. Over the course of several days, his parents were allowed to be by his side, holding his tiny hand and speaking to him softly, providing much-needed emotional support.

The day he was discharged from the hospital was one of immense relief and joy for Asma and Alijhan. They took their baby home, feeling grateful for the overwhelming support they had received from the hospital staff and Neonates Foundation of India ( NFI) .

Asma and Alijhan’s son’s story is a testament to the resilience of newborns and the power of community support and compassion. Despite their financial struggles, Asma and Alijhan were able to provide their son with the care he needed , thanks to the intervention of dedicated healthcare professionals and organisations like Neonates Foundation of India ( NFI). Their story highlights the importance of having robust support systems in place to help vulnerable families and the profound impact that such support can have on their lives.
